Embracing Change
hange is scary. Change often means experiencing something new and different which can be really good and exciting. It is also normal to feel some discomfort, worry, or hesitation -otherwise known as anxiety. Even when the change you are making is for the best – that it needs to happen, or is something you are eagerly anticipating – I think it is safe to say that it is unusual for change to be an experience that is free from anxiety or fear.
And we have just experienced this personally! We have been working on our new business and clinic, The Spark Institute, for months, and last week we finally had our official opening. We had been looking forward to that day for a long time, but with it, arrived a whole new set of concerns and worries. This new adventure is definitely a huge change for both of us (probably one of the biggest in either of our lives thus far), and even though it has been incredibly exciting, it has also been stressful, and at times, downright scary. Later this week, we are going to be talking further about anxiety, and anxiety treatments from a naturopathic perspective, but for now, I think there is one really important thing for us all to remember about change: The feelings of anxiety that accompany change are completely normal, and are by no means an indication that the anticipated change is bad or wrong. The most magical things tend to happen when we step outside of our comfort zones.
We know that making a big change can be daunting but taking that first step is often the hardest part. Deciding to embark on a recovery journey of any type is probably one of the scariest things you will ever do. We have created The Spark Institute because we have so much compassion, respect, and admiration for the strength and courage that decision, and this journey, takes – and it is so important to us that you feel safe and at home in our space. We know that one of the toughest obstacles to overcome can be simply mustering up the courage to actually walk through the doors, so we decided to give you a sneak peek at the clinic right here! Come by anytime, our doors are always open. We are so excited to share our space with you – we love the way it turned out, and we hope you do too!
